When a Customer makes a booking, both the Customer and User receive notifications relevant to that booking. The Notification templates editor allows you to send fully customized email and SMS notifications to Customers and Users.
The Notification templates editor is an advanced WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) editor that provides you with the utmost flexibility over the content, look and feel, and utilization of your notifications. Whether you want to create your own templates from scratch, tweak the wording a bit, or simply add a logo, building a custom notification template within the editor will facilitate almost every requirement you have.
With the Notifications template editor, you can:
- Review the structure of default templates (when no customization is required)
- Create new Custom templates
- Translate a Custom template to another language as part of localization
When your templates are ready, you can use them for Customer and User communications. The templates can be used for:
- Customer notifications
- User notifications
- Email inquires from the Website widget
- Sending invitations to new Users
Getting started - Selecting a notification scenario
To get started, first select the notification scenario you would like to customize. Notification scenarios are events that take place during a booking lifecycle which trigger emails and SMS to be sent. You should note that there are different scenarios for Users and Customers, each with their own templates. Sections of the Notification templates editor
When you open the Editor you will see the following sections:
Top – Notification scenario dropdown menu: This is where you select the notification scenario you wish to work on, and where you move between scenarios.
Left – Template creation pane: This is where templates are listed. Here you can copy, rename, or delete templates.
Middle – Editor pane: This is where template content is edited.
Right – Dynamic fields pane: This is where you can find the Dynamic fields to add variable content to your template.

Navigating the Template creation pane
This is where Custom templates are created. The following functions are available in this pane:
New Custom template button – Creates a custom email or SMS template in the scenario you are working in. Once created, you can add any content of your choosing.
Copy button – Creates a copy of the selected template. You can copy the template to a different notification scenario using the dropdown menu in the pop-up. Once copied, the template can be customized.
Rename button – Allows you to rename the selected template.
Delete button – Deletes the selected template. Once deleted, this action cannot be undone.
Template list – Below the buttons is a list of all templates available for the selected scenario. The default template will always be on top. Select a template to edit or copy it.
Note Default templates cannot be edited, but can be copied.

This is where the text and the look and feel of Custom templates are tailored.
Email and SMS tabs
Under most scenarios there is an email tab and SMS tab where you choose which notification type you wish to work on.
If you see a blue icon with a D, it means you are viewing the default template. If you see a red icon with C, it means you are viewing a Custom template. The default template cannot be edited; the Custom templates can be. Learn more about default vs. custom templates
Dynamic fields pane (right)
When you edit a template, you can use a wide range of Dynamic fields. Dynamic fields are used in emails and SMS to personalize the message for the User or Customer and to give booking-specific information. Dynamic fields will be automatically populated with the data generated throughout the booking process and from your booking settings. Dynamic fields such as time zone, country, and location, are shown in English in all notifications except Customer notifications based on custom templates - in this case these Dynamic fields are shown in the locale selected on the Booking page.
For example, if you want to include the name of your Customer in the greeting of your Customer emails, you simply insert the Dynamic field “Customer name” and the greeting field will always start with “Dear <Customer name>”, inserting your Customer’s actual name. Learn more about Dynamic fields
